Maureen Dolan, Swami Shraddhananda, is an ordained priest and  certified Hatha Yoga Teacher; teaches  courses, including those with service learning, at DePaul University’s School for New Learning and in the Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies PAX program:  “Women’s Voices in Peacemaking;”  “Cooperatives: Building Communities of Peace and Justice;” “Election 2008: The Whole World is Watching;” “Global Futures: Oil, Water, War, and Peace,” “Body, Mind, Spirit: Yoga and Meditation,” “Peace, Conflict Resolution and Social Justice,” “Inner Peace for Activists,” and “Gandhi/King Non-Violence Conference;”  serves as Adjunct Interfaith Chaplain for the University Ministry; coordinates the annual Non-Violence and Social Justice Teach In. For about 45 years, she has been engaged in social justice work in the peace movement, union organizing, community coalitions, and women’s organizations. She served as Executive Director of the Chicago Electric Options Campaign,  Executive Director of  Women United for a Better Chicago; Assistant Director of Public Interest Law Initiative; Coordinator of Artemisia Gallery; Recording Secretary for  UWA-UE union; member of the Spiritual Life Task Force of the Parliament of World Religions; served on numerous boards of peace and justice organizations. Maureen received a doctorate in the Philosophy of  Transformative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2011. She writes a regular column for Yoga Chicago magazine and has chapters published in American Wars: Illusions and Realities and in 30 Stories of Interspiritual Discovery in the Community of Faiths. Maureen helped form the Logan Square Housing Cooperative where she resides with12 people and 4 children. Maureen also has two sons who work in the social justice arena.
